Villa have made a formal offer for the Palmeiras winger Allan and been turned down flat. ESPN Brasil reported on the evening of July 28th that the bid was worth €25m up front plus €5m in guaranteed bonuses, around R$175m and roughly £25.7m, and that Palmeiras rejected it immediately, telling the Premier League club the 22-year-old is not for sale. The Brazilian champions' position, set by president Leila Pereira, is that they will not sell players Abel Ferreira regards as central while the side lead the Brasilão. Allan is a right-sided forward with ten goal contributions in 34 appearances this season and a contract that gives Palmeiras every card. Villa's interest is real: Unai Emery still wants another attacking player after Morgan Rogers's sale, with Alejandro Garnacho arriving on the left and Evann Guessand expected to leave. TEAMtalk reported on July 29th that Palmeiras sporting director Anderson Barros told Allan's representatives the club have no intention of negotiating, and that any renewed approach would have to move well beyond the EUR 30m already tabled to shift that position. The Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan put a figure on what it would take, reporting on July 29th that Palmeiras have already turned down offers worth up to EUR 35m, including an approach from Napoli, and that only a bid in the region of EUR 45m would force the club to consider a sale seriously. “I can't imagine Aston Villa coming back with EUR 40m or EUR 45m,” Hernan said, “but if someone arrived with EUR 45m, then maybe you have to sell.” Palmeiras remain convinced the winger's value will keep rising, and BirminghamLive noted on July 29th that an improved offer from Villa has not been ruled out. Villa have not given up and a second offer is under study. ESPN Brasil's Bruno Andrade and Andre Hernan reported on July 31st, in copy relayed by Sport Witness and by Read Aston Villa on the morning of August 1st, that Villa are “preparing, or at least studying, a new offer in the hope of convincing Palmeiras” after the opening package was turned down. Andrade's line is direct: “the information I've received is that Aston Villa haven't given up”. Hernan has the same account from sources close to the player, but he does not expect a second summer bid to shift Palmeiras. The Brazilian club are not working to an asking price at all: their stated priority is keeping Allan while they chase honours across the rest of the domestic season, and both Abel Ferreira and Leila Pereira regard him as central. That leaves Villa choosing between an improved offer now and holding contact until the Brasileirao finishes, with January the more realistic window if Palmeiras keep refusing to negotiate this summer.
